In 2015, I had the chance to participate in a week-one portrait course in Ravenna, Italy. This mosaic was created in smalti, a type of thick and opaque glass cut with a hammer and hardie. I chose to portray an iconic personality – Marilyn Monroe. I learned a lot in this class from Luciana Notturni, one of the best mosaic art teachers in the world.
